Create a focal point area in the High Street

Result :

Our company won a competitive tender for a scheme to enhance Ashford High Street.

Our challenge was to create a focal point for workers and pedestrians to encourage local trade for shopkeepers, while ensuring access for residents to properties to the rear of the area.

SR Newman engaged in extensive consultations with local Councillors, Borough Officers and Public utility companies on all aspects of the scheme, including and the type, size and colour of the materials and street furniture used in the construction.

Local shopkeepers were provided access to their premises throughout the works.

Health and Safety was also a high priority throughout this scheme and daily site meetings with all concerned ensured that smooth running of the project.

SR Newman completed the project on time and within budget. The local residents, traders and visitors now enjoy a fantastic area to meet, with increased footfall and dwell times to benefit local traders and shoppers.
